Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash review

I recently attended the Pure Beauty Awards at the Savoy in London, where I picked up the award for Best New Dental Product for BlanX White Shock (I can't tell you how exciting that was)! As always Pure Beauty did not disappoint and I walked away with an amazing goody bag of beauty treats. One of which was the new Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash.

I was sat next to the team from Tangle Teezer and they told me this is different to the regular Tangle Teezer as the shape of it means you can rotate it slightly to getting right through all the hair when wet.

Now, I bought a Flower Pot Tangle Teezer for my little girl as she hates having her hair brushed, and I have to say I was not too impressed with it. The bristles are not long enough to get through all of the hair meaning I have to brush Violet's hair in layers which I just don't have the time for in the morning. Violet likes it because it's in the shape of a flower and she can put her bobbles in the pot, but personally I think they're just a gimmick and they don't really do a very good job of actually brushing hair.

But anyway I digress, back to the Aqua Splash...
When I used the Aqua Splash I felt that it did a better job at getting right through all of the hair, Violet wasn't so impressed and it made her cry.

The bristles are slightly longer and closer together and I think that makes a difference. It's quite an odd shape but it makes it really easy to hold. It's hollow, I am guessing this is because you can use it in the shower so no water will get trapped inside it and it will dry quickly.

It was OK for me as I don't have very thick hair, however if you have lots of hair I don't think this is the product for you. As far as the Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash goes I would say it's better than the Flower Pots but still not great, I don't think I would have splashed out £13.99 for it.

What do you think, are you a Tangle Teezer lover of hater?

Rimmel London Lasting Colour Rush Balm Review

Recently I have gone a bit spend crazy on lip products, I tend to go through phases where I will buy lots of one type of product and lately it's been lipsticks.

As well as joining the MAC lipstick gang I also went a little cray cray for Rimmels latest lip offerings, their Lasting Colour Rush Balm sticks. Now this is something I am blaming yet again on the lovely Katie from Sugarfixx Beauty, this is the second thing she has 'enabled' me to buy after seeing her Instagram images.

Now if you have read my review of the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain then you will know that I have not exactly been wowed by the Chubby Stick knock offs, until now...

Some how I have ended up with four of these I just don't know how, really. I got the shades 'The Redder the Better', 'On Fire', 'Rumour Has it' and 'Give Me a Cuddle', they do some lovely nude shades too which I may have to purchase come pay day. They were £5.99 (£2 cheaper than the Revlon version) but when I bought my first three it was buy one get the second half price. I used one of them once and then poof it was gone to god knows where so obviously I had to go and repurchase, this is when another shade caught my attention and because I'd spent over £10 I got a free Scandal Eyes mascara so that was nice.

As you can see they are all super pigmented, I was really impressed with the colour pay off and the fact that the colour you see is the colour you get! They are also super silky and hydrating and they don't cling to any dry patched or cracked lips which is fab for this time of year. The most impressive thing about these is the staying power, when I lost 'Rumour Has it' after one application I was gutted because I didn't want to take it off but thought it would look rubbish if I couldn't reapply. I decided to risk it and leave it on and to my amazement 6 hours later it was still going strong! The glossy effect fades after a couple of hours and you are left with a matte effect which I was fine with as it was the colour I most liked and you didn't loose any of that.

I really do love these, I think they're a great alternative to lipstick and the colours are really vibrant, perfect for brightening up a dull winters day. 'Rumour Has it' is my favourite and then 'On Fire', I felt really confident wearing these two shades which is something new for me as I tend to stick to much lighter shades.

Here's me wearing 'Rumour Has it', you can see how silky and shiny it is, and my lips are always really dry.

You will be pleased to know I managed to eventually find the lost 'Rumour Has it' before I used the new one so I will be adding that to my Christmas giveaway pot.

Have you tried any of the Rimmel Lasting Colour Rush Balms yet?

My first Shellac experience

Hello again, yes I'm still alive just a very busy bee!

A few weeks ago I decided it was about time I gave Shellac a try, I was going away for my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to a trip to the beauty salon as it isn't something I get chance to do very often. As a self confessed nail polish addict I have always been put off Shellac purely because I like to change the colour of my nails every other day, but I thought it was time a gave it a go.

I have to say the salon I went to did not have as many colours as I was hoping for but I decided to go for this beautiful coral red (not sure what the official name is) and I really liked it to start with. I loved how it made my nails look, the shape was lovely and they were sooo shiny, but alas I got bored as predicted.

After a couple of days I was itching to get it off but I tried to hold out as long as I could because my nails looked so pretty. After about 5 days I couldn't wait any longer I had to peal it off, and I know you're supposed to soak it off but I am just too impatient for that malarkey and as a result I ruined my nails.

All in all I was pleased with the look of the Shellac and amazed at how fast it dried, there was none of the awkward claw fingers when I was trying to get my money out to pay which was fab! However if like me you're into changing your nail colour fairly regularly I wouldn't recommend it as I think it is quite expensive for what it is. It cost me £22 for what was essentially a file and polish, and I believe that is quite cheap for a Shellac mani.

I would maybe have it done again for a special occasion or if I was going on holiday and didn't want to have to keep touching up my nails, but I think I will just stick to good old fashion nail polish from now on.

Hey folks, if you have been a follower for a while you will have noticed that every now and again I will be a little MIA, this is purely down to how busy I am at work. Now is one of those times and I didn't want all my lovely new followers to start wondering where I have gone or that I'm not bothered, because I am!

We are in the planning stages for next year at the moment, which means lots of travelling and lots of meetings at work, which in turn means I am absolutely shattered when I get home and just do not have the energy to even turn on the computer. I do have a couple of quiet days this week so I am hoping to get some posts scheduled for the next few weeks, so please bare with me (in the words or Arnie) I will be back!

So what have I been up to I hear you cry, well as you know I turned 30 a couple of weeks ago and I had arranged a nice little getaway in London (was supposed to be Paris, but that's another very long story!). We had a great time seeing the sights and shopping and just by pure luck (as we didn't have anything booked or planned) we stumbled across The Top Secret Comedy Club Drury Lane. We had a 2 for 1 entry voucher, which when it was only £10 each I felt really cheeky using, then we were given free pizza and the drinks were super cheap! The comedy was first class too, there had been a change to the line up and we ended up getting to see Paul Chowdhry, who you might have seen on Live at the Apollo and I think he has a programme on channel 4. We laughed our little socks off all night, I would definitely recommend The Top Secret Comedy Club if you're in London and not sure what to do with your evening.

Anyone got the time?

Ring ring, I think it's for you love?

Lylah's future home (when she marries Prince George)

Blue chicken in Trafalgar Square obvs!

Amazing food at The Diner, Soho

Some crazy Americans shut down Regent Street
And don't worry there will be a huge haul post heading your way very soon!

I will be going backwards and forwards to London a few times in the next couple of weeks for exciting work things and belated birthday celebrations, me and a couple of my girlies are off to see Wicked! So expect a lot more news from the big smoke.

Well I hope that has given you a little something to wet your appetite for some up coming posts :)
